- It won’t start rolling out ads until next year, but conversations with former YouTube execs and media companies indicated the platform could come out a winner in the short-form competition — even if it didn’t displace TikTok.
- YouTube considers winning a No. 2 spot. YouTube is the 2nd largest player in the space. YouTube does not need to be the most popular short-form-video site, but they must win, according to a former executive.
- YouTube has an advantage in that it is more sophisticated than other ad-sales businesses, which could help increase the likelihood of YouTube selling ads in a shorter form.
- Insiders believe that YouTube’s greatest asset is its ability attract more creators and drive them longer-form videos to make more money.
