In a small, peaceful town on the edge of the Russian countryside, an elderly woman lived a quiet life on her own. The town was known for its tranquility and friendly neighbors, so when a group of hunters appeared at her door one day, she welcomed them warmly. With them were three young puppies, which they gently placed on her porch before stepping inside.
The woman, ever kind and trusting, offered the hunters a hot meal and a place to rest for the night. Grateful for her generosity, the group accepted her hospitality. But the next morning, as they packed up and departed, they took only two of the puppies, leaving the frailest one behind without a word.
