Living on the Streets
Surviving without shelter, scavenging for meals, and navigating the dangers of the streets is a daunting challenge for any canine, but for a mother, it’s even more distressing.

Settling into Andrea’s house, Nixi felt an overwhelming sense of safety. She realized she could place her trust in this kind woman. Seeking affection, she leaned into her rescuer, yearning for warmth and comfort.
As time passed, Nixi’s sweet nature captivated Andrea, leading her to make a life-changing decision—she would give Nixi a forever home.
The grateful dog’s response was touching. She constantly sought closeness, placing her paw gently on Andrea’s hand or knee whenever she could.
“She does this thing where she sits back on her hind legs and she picks up her paws to try and she’ll place on my knee, or she’ll pick up her paw and she’ll place it on my hand,” Andrea shared with GeoBeats Animals.
Andrea took Nixi to the veterinarian, where she was diagnosed with multiple health conditions. It became evident that she had endured life on the streets for quite some time.
In addition to severe malnutrition, she was battling heartworm disease, flea infestations, and stomach parasites.
With dedicated treatment and the comfort of a loving home, she gradually began to heal.
At first, she was timid around humans, but the affection and care from her new family transformed her. Over time, her confidence flourished, and she embraced her new life with open paws.
Now, Nixi adores people and is eager to shower them with affection.
She was also reunited with her puppy and had the chance to meet his adoptive family. Seeing her baby well cared for, she was finally at peace.
Both mother and pup now have loving homes where they are cherished. Their journey, once filled with hardship, led them to the happiness they had always longed for.
