Will Netflix renew ‘One Piece’ for a third season? Mackenyu aka Zoro reveals

Netflix’s live-action series on Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece, debuted on the OTT platform in August 2023, thereby sending fans into the world of exotic pirate adventures once again. The Straw Hats set sail in search of the One Piece treasure bringing Oda’s manga to life in an unprecedented way. Soon, after the release of season 1, the news of a second season in production was confirmed by Netflix.

Now, adding to the hopes of fans is the recent comment made by Mackenyu who plays Roronoa Zoro in the beloved show. “We do have projects lined up for this year before we shoot Season 3 of One Piece, but I can’t tell you anything about that, so it’s not going to be fun for y’all,” Mackenyu told Crunchyroll, thereby confirming a season 3 is underway.

Although the comment has become a piece of good news for fans, it is important to note that Netflix hasn’t confirmed season 3 is in production yet.

One Piece follows the exploits of Monkey D Luffy, a boy who gains the qualities of rubber unintentionally after devouring a devil fruit. After recruiting his pirate crew namely the Straw Hat Pirates, Luffy embarks to explore the grand line in search of a mythical treasure. Achieving his ultimate goal will make him the next king of the pirates. One piece is divided into several arcs and sagas. It is expected the show will next move on to the Arabasta Saga in the coming season.
