What is the best football game to watch this weekend

English football as it is played in England Premier LeagueLast weekend, Queen Elizabeth II’s death caused the down-to-grassfoot football to be postponed.

This left fans with no other choice than to view European games and get their weekly fix of football. MLS beyond — with many tuning in to watch games in leagues such as the Bundesliga and La Liga.

The majority of English football is back this weekend — with only three Premier League games postponed — but we’ve decided to list which games are worth tuning in to before the international break because we know you enjoyed last week’s version.

Bundesliga

Two simple picks, but with different reasons. Union Berlin are the Bundesliga’s early leaders and given what we know about their resources, that seems like a moment in time that can only last for so long. On Sunday, they’ll be defending their place at the top of the league at their bear pit of a ground in Kopenick. You will be amazed at their speed and attack. There will also be a lot of spectators.

They’ll be facing Niko Kovac’s ailing WolfsburgThey are without a Bundesliga win this season. Bochum sacked their head coach last week and cleaned out their technical department, and Kovac might be close behind if he can’t take points away from East Berlin.

That’s on Sunday. On Saturday, it’s the Revierderby at Signal Iduna Park. Borussia DortmundSchalke gave them a happy kick on their way to relegation. They beat them by an aggregate score of 11-0 in the last three games. But Schalke, who have returned from 2.Bundesliga, are stronger and more competitive. They will be making the 45km journey in hopes of beating a BVB side that made them look very ordinary. RB LeipzigA week ago. It will be an unforgettable occasion, regardless of what the result is. This will almost certainly be one of the loudest.

Serie A

It’s a Super Sunday in Serie A so cancel your plans, open a bag of taralli and get comfy. The mood for the rest should be set by Udine’s lunchtime kick-off.

InterThey will be in Friuli, and they will feel much happier than they did a week ago, when Simone Inzaghi was given a confidence vote in the face of defeats by Lazio. AC MilanBayern Munich. After back-to-back victories against Viktoria Plzen and Torino, the dark clouds over San Siro are now lifted. Champions League. Francesco Acerbi’s commanding performance in the Czech Republic suggests Inter may be on the way to plugging the holes in their defence, but Udinese will test that theory to the limit. They have been the star of Serie A so far and have won four straight games, which has upset teams from Europe like Fiorentina or Roma.

Mid-afternoon, the attention turns to the Brianteo, where Monza’s new interim coach Raffaele Palladino is set to make his debut in the dugout against Juventus. It’s a toss-up as to which of these two teams has been the greater disappointment in Serie A this season. Monza was the team that spent the most in Italy’s transfer window, and they have just one point to prove it. Juventus are currently in crisis mode, and speculation about Max Allegri’s future is growing despite Andrea Agnelli’s 11-year tenure at the helm not having fired a manager during the season.

Paulo Dybala helped Juventus to get rid of Monza teams. He is now providing the same service for Roma. The ArgentinaForward has scored six goals in eight games with his new club. Atalanta’s visit to the Olimpico early on Sunday evening will stress-test Roma’s own title credentials. Atalanta aren’t in Europe this season and are one of three teams still undefeated in Serie A. On Sunday night, the AC Milan vs Napoli will be the highlight of the event. The league’s MVP Rafael Leao will be missing through suspension after receiving a second yellow against Sampdoria last weekend for attempting a bicycle kick so audacious it almost took a defender’s head off and was adjudged to have been dangerous play. The focus therefore shifts to someone who might end this season as the league’s next MVP; Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. The Georgian winger simply is The most exciting player in Europe right now.

La Liga

La Liga’s weekend starts with Real Valladolid hosting Cadiz on Friday evening and runs through to Sunday night’s “derbi” clash of Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid at the latter’s Estadio Metropolitano.

Champions Madrid have won all seven games in La Liga and Champions League so far in 2022-23, but Carlo Ancelotti’s side will still want to have key attacker Karim Benzema back from injury in time for their biggest test of the campaign so far.

It is becoming increasingly bizarre that Atletico forward Antoine Griezmann, who is always a substitute for the second-half, is in an ever more absurd situation. BarcelonaTo increase interest in the sport, he will accept a lower fee to sign him permanently next year. Madrid keeper Thibaut Courtois will also be in the spotlight, with Atletico fans angered by the former player saying before last year’s Champions League final that he was now on “the right side of history”.

Another standout game is Sevilla’s trip to Villarreal on Sunday afternoon — Unai Emery’s side will want three points after losing to Manuel Pellegrini’s Real Betis last weekendJulen Lopetegui, Sevilla coach, is fighting for his job. They had a difficult start to the season. Barcelona will be able to rebound from their midweek reality at Bayern Munich. Elche, who visit the Camp Nou this Saturday afternoon, has just two goals so far this season.

Ligue 1

Lorient, a high flying team, opens the Ligue 1 weekend by taking a trip to Auxerre Friday. It’s another chance to see the lively Terem Moffi in action. The league season has begun with five goals for the young forward from Nigeria. He made eight appearances in eight games. Lorient will share points with Marseille leaders Paris Saint-Germain et Marseille if they are able to claim all three points at Auxerre. Not bad for a team that finished 16th last season…

If a clash between two heavyweights is more your thing, then Sunday’s match between Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon is the game for you. Neymar, Kylian Mabappe, and Lionel Messi all scored in the midweek match against Maccabi Haifa Champions League rivals Maccabi Haifa. They will be looking to repeat that feat next week when they meet up with their international counterparts. Lyon will be no easy ride and home advantage for Peter Bosz’s side will make this encounter a compelling viewing on Sunday evening.

Women’s football

The wait is finally over for the players and supporters dreaming of an Indian summer for women’s football. After last weekend’s scheduled start was delayed following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the new WSL season kicks off with new signings, new challengers and, it is hoped after a Euro 2022 tournament that smashed attendance records as well as making EnglandThe history of a multitude of inspired followers.

ArsenalPush ChelseaAll the way from last season, and now we open the new term at our home BrightonFriday night (7.30pm BST) With Vivianne Mildema still with us, Beth Mead and Leah Williamson displaying triumphant glows and Beth Mead remaining, it is likely that Jonas Eidevall will keep them in the fight for deep.

Manchester UnitedWe expect a record 6,500 people to attend. ReadingLeigh Sports Village will be hosting a Saturday 12pm match. The team is looking for a Champions League slot this season and are hoping to take advantage of the blowing winds in Manchester. Gareth Taylor still has a lot of work to do following the exodus of City players including Lucy Bronze, Caroline Weir, Georgia Stanway, and Lucy Bronze. When they begin at, all eyes will be on Taylor’s transitional side. Aston VillaSunday, 12.30pm

Chelsea, however, starts at LiverpoolThe team to beat remains in the final fixture (Sunday, 5.30pm). Eve Perisset and Kadeisha Buchanan have boosted their defence and Emma Hayes’ hunger for success is as unrelenting as ever.

Premier League

With only three games remaining, the Premier League is back in its glory.

Fans of Brighton & Hove Albion, Crystal PalaceManchester United Leeds UnitedChelsea and Liverpool will not be able see their teams in action this weekend. But there are plenty of other games that you can watch.

Saturday’s early game between Wolves Manchester CityIt will be great fun to see the sights. Diego CostaHe will make his Premier League debut five year after leaving Chelsea. It’s never boring when Costa is around so expect fireworks if he does manage to make it onto the Molineux pitch.

Brendan Rodgers is down to just one point in their six opening league games. He knows that he must get a positive result or he will be fired. To London for face-to-face Tottenham Hotspur isn’t ideal for Rodgers but he will hope this weekend’s opponents are still feeling the effects of their bruising 2-0 defeat at the hands of Sporting Lisbon.

It’s worth watching the early game on Sunday as it will give us a chance to see Gareth Southgate’s decision to call in. Brentford’s Ivan ToneyThis is the first time. Remember Arsenal were beaten 2-0 on their last visit to Brentford, so Mikel Arteta’s men will be hoping to exact revenge.

MLS

MLS action this weekend kicks off Saturday with the season’s second Hudson River Derby. Only a handful of games remain in the regular season so both New York City FC & New York Red Bulls have the opportunity to gain home advantage in the first round.

NYCFC is in dire need of a positive outcome. NYCFC was in desperate need of a positive result when Valentin Castellanos, the top scorer for the team, left for Girona in July. They had only lost one of their 16 previous league matches. In the MLS, they have suffered seven losses in their last 10 games. NYCFC will be optimistic that things have started to turn around as they won Wednesday’s 2022 Campeones Cup victory over Atlas FC, who were back-toback Liga MX champions.

Red Bulls will seek revenge for their July loss to NYCFC by attempting to win a 1-0 victory. NYCFC has lost consecutively to them once before.

Saturday will continue with a huge matchup between Atlanta United FC & the Philadelphia Union. Atlanta has won consecutive games for first time in a whole year. They will need to continue this trend if they are to be considered for a playoff spot. Philadelphia lead Los Angeles FC by two points with three games remaining in the race for the Supporters’ Shield.

We have two crucial matches left in the race to secure the final few playoff spots. Real Salt Lake (7th Western Conference), hosts FC Cincinnati (6th East), Saturday night. On Sunday, the Portland Timbers (6th West), visits the Columbus Crew (7th East). Each conference’s top seven teams qualify for the playoffs.
