Tom Cruise, who is gearing up for the release of ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning‘, has revealed that he and the ‘Top Gun: Maverick‘ team are ‘thinking and talking about many different stories’ for the sequel. The actor is excited to reprise his role as pilot Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell in the follow-up film.
During his appearance on the ‘Today’ show, Cruise said, “Yeah, we’re thinking and talking about many different stories and what could we do and what’s possible. It took me 35 years to figure out ‘Top Gun: Maverick‘, so all of these things we’re working on, we’re discussing ‘Days of Thunder‘ and ‘Top Gun: Maverick‘.

The actor added that he’s working on numerous films, including Alejandro González Iñárritu’s first English-language movie since 2015’s ‘The Revenant‘, and Christopher McQuarrie’s film. Recalling his shooting experience with Alejandro, Cruise said, “It was extraordinary.”
What was ‘Top Gun: Maverick‘ about? The story follows Pete confronting his past while training a group of younger Top Gun graduates, including the son of his deceased best friend, for a dangerous mission.
Talking about Cruise’s upcoming film, ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning‘, he is set to return as Ethan Hunt. The Christopher McQuaire-directed also stars Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Henry Czerny, and Mariela Garriga.
