talkSPORT betting tips – Best football bets and expert advice for Saturday 12 July

The Women’s European Championship is nearing the end of the group stage and there has been disappointment for Group C strugglers Denmark and Poland, who remain pointless as they prepare to face each other in a battle to avoid finishing bottom of the pile.

Elsewhere there are 15 Scottish League Cup matches taking place, including the Group G fixture between newly-promoted Division One outfit Peterhead and Championship side Morton.

Below we have picked out the best bets from Saturday’s fixture list.

Saturday football betting tips

Bet of the day – Morton to beat Peterhead – 21/20

Morton contested the Scottish League Cup final way back in 1963 – losing 5-0 to Rangers – and they can make a positive start to this season’s competition by winning away to Peterhead in their Group G clash.

The Ton posted a solid sixth place in the Championship last term and have made a couple of positive moves in the transfer market, snapping up defender Sonny Hart on a season-long loan from Swindon and left back Jackson Longridge after his release by Hamilton.

Dougie Imrie’s side are hoping to make a push towards the play-off places as well as making an impact in the cup competitions.

Morton’s aim will be to challenge Motherwell for top spot in the section and they should certainly be too strong for League One side Peterhead, who hosted Championship outfit Queen’s Park in their first game of last season’s Scottish League Cup and suffered a 5-0 defeat.

Peterhead were last season’s Scottish League Two champions, but their main aim this term will be third-tier consolidation.

Special of the day – Denmark Women to win and both teams to score – 37/20

Euro 2025 is coming to an end for Denmark and Poland, who face each other in Lucerne with an emphasis on trying to restore some lost pride.

Both teams were eliminated after sustaining back-to-back defeats and an early flight home will come as more of a surprise to Denmark, who were losing finalists at Euro 2017.

The Danes started with a narrow 1-0 loss to Sweden and their fate was sealed by a 2-1 loss to Germany which was influenced by some controversial decisions, including a contentious penalty award which allowed the Germans to register their 56th-minute equaliser.

Denmark were outshot 27 to five by Germany, but they are usually much more attack-minded and are likely to respond with a victory over Poland, who are the second-lowest ranked team (28th) in the tournament.

The Poles were swept aside by Germany and Sweden – losing 2-0 and 3-0 – but they should play a bit more positively in their final match and can get on the scoresheet in an entertaining final match.

Longshot of the day – Sandefjord draw no bet  – 13/2

Bodo/Glimt were Europa League semi-finalists earlier this year – losing 5-1 on aggregate to Tottenham – but they have lacked consistency in the 2025 Norwegian Eliteserien and may struggle to justify short odds at home to Sandefjord.

Kjetil Knudsen’s fifth-placed side have taken one point from their last two games and are a point below Sandefjord in the standings.

Sandefjord have won six of their last nine league fixtures and look overpriced to spring a surprise.
