‘Survivor 48’ deleted scene shows literal singing in the rain (exclusive)

There’s a storm brewin’ on Survivor 48. No… we mean it. An actual storm! THIS IS NOT A METAPHOR!

There was a bit of talk on the latest episode of Survivor 48 about a thunderstorm that ripped through the islands on night seven of the game, but in an exclusive deleted scene, we see much more of it, and how each of the tribes reacted to it in their own unique ways.

The scene, which can be watched above, begins at the Civa camp, and quickly progresses from “I just saw lightning in the distance” to “I just felt a drizzle” to panicked sliding under the shelter. But soon the attention shifts to others who have it much worse than they do.

“Man, Vula, oh my God,” sympathizes David Kinne of the tarpless tribe.

“Oh, those poor guys,” adds Kyle Fraser.

Kyle then expands on that in an interview filmed the morning after: “In those moments when you’re getting rained on, but you have a little bit of protection, you’re hard pressed not to think about the other guy. And in this case, the other guy is Vula. It must be really hard for them.”

That it is, as we then see a shot of the remaining three Vula members trying to sleep through the storm. (Hey, their shelter is terrible but at least they have plenty of space! No sliding over necessary!)

As for Lagi, they are semi-basking in the glory of their tarped-over shelter. “Tonight’s a joy,” Thomas Krottinger explains in an at least semi-sarcastic interview. “It was, oh so fun. We were all huddled together under our beautiful tarp, but freezing in the rain. So there wasn’t a lot of sleep, but at least we were dry, which, who knows how the other tribes fared. So I’m looking on the bright side — the dry side.”

It appears as if the entire Lagi outlook boiled down to: This may be bad for us, but hopefully it is even worse for the others. “I hope Civa’s suffering more than Vula,” Bianca Roses comments to the tribe during the downpour. “I want to knock them down.”

“Well said,” former nice guy Joe Hunter concurs.

But it seems at some point in between all that thunder and lightning, Civa made a decision to turn those frowns upside down. And how did they do it? Through the power of song! Because the next thing we see is all six Civa members standing around the fire… singing!

“Standing by the fire, getting a little wet,” begin the lyrics. “Might be a little unhappy, but I’m with my new friends.” And… well, yeah… that’s pretty much the entire song as far as I can tell, just repeated over and over. That is, until Kyle begins to freestyle. “Not as bad as Vula” he adds in… not knowing he would be moving over there a few hours later. Irony.
