‘Squid Game’ star Park Sung-hoon faces massive backlash over porn parody controversy

Actor Park Sung-hoon was subjected to massive backlash ever since his casting to play transgender woman Hyung Ju in Squid Game season 2. But those who doubted his capability of portraying the role were swiftly silenced by his fantastic acting in the series. However, the public opinion turned on him once again when the South Korean star accidentally shared a porn parody cover on social media.

Although the post was immediately removed from his profile, the update had already gone viral across social media.

Fans slam Park Sung-hoon over porn parody

In hours following the incident, many online users criticized Park Sung-hoon. “Player 120 was such a great character that I hate that Park Sung Hoon doesn’t even respect her. Uploading p0rn related to Hyun-ju on his Instagram wasn’t an accident at all. Disgusting,” wrote a user.

Another added, “Park Sung-hoon’s popularity lasted for like 2 days boy why. The whole world was with you then you ruined it.”

Park Sung-hoon issues apology

After the public backlash, the actor’s management agency BH Entertainment issued an official statement apologising for the mistake. “Park Sung Hoon received an overwhelming number of direct messages (DMs) on his social media. While checking the DMs, he accidentally uploaded the image. The actor himself was deeply shocked and feels extremely sorry for making such a mistake, especially in these circumstances. He will be more careful in the future to ensure this does not happen again,” read the statement.
