It’s not necessary to ruin your life by drinking a couple of drinks. Reduce your calorie intake.

We’ve compiled a short list of popular alcoholic beverages with high calorie content, and provided lower calorie alternatives.

Switch a Long Island Iced tea (262 calories), for a Cosmopolitan (135 calories).

A single Long Island drink contains 262 calories. This is according to AllRecipes.com.

You can also find out more about the A-Team here. Cosmopolitan has much less alcohol and only a small amount of cranberry juice, meaning a typical drink contains only 131 calories – about half the calories of a Long Island.

Swap a Pina Colada (423 calories) for a Fuzzy Navel (367 calories)

Pina ColadasThese drinks are the quintessential beachside cocktails, but they contain 423 calories in each serving due to their coconut and pineapple mixers.

Fuzzy Navel contains only peach schnapps, orange juice and a small amount of sugar, so it is a fruity alternative with 367 calories.

Swap a Mojito (203 calories) for a Diet Rum & Coke (115 calories)

Mojitos may be a favorite summer drink, but they can pack a lot of calories.

For an equally sweet but lower-calorie drink, a Diet Rum & Coke can contain as few as 100 calories per 8 oz serving, making it a sweet rummy swap.

Switch a soft seltzer for a cooler.

Coolers usually contain sugars. Calorie counts can vary by brand and flavor. You can, for example. A Smirnoff Vodka Cooler MyFitnessPal’s app says that a Mike’s Hard Black Cherry Lemonade has 228 calories, while a Mike’s Hard Black Cherry Lemonade may have 400 calories in a single bottle.

By contrast, hard seltzersWebMD reports that the serving size of most, which are quite popular these days, is 100 calories. Many coolers have flavorings or juices to give them that fruity edge.

Swap your Gin & Tonic (193 calories) for a Gin Rickey (146 calories)

A Gin & Tonic is a global classic, but because tonic water contains added sugars, a typical serving can come in at about 193 calories.

Gin Rickey is a great option for those who love gin but want something a little lighter. This drink substitutes tonic water for seltzer, and then adds lime. It has a total of 146 calories. According to the Moody Mixologist.

Switch a Whisky Sour (555 calories), for an Old Fashioned cocktail (168 calories).

The foamy, sweet foam that tops a whisky sourThis cocktail is delicious, and especially refreshing on a warm summer afternoon. The cocktail contains a lot of simple syrup which can increase the calories. A single serving could contain up to 555 calories.

You can also go back to classics like the Bourbon Classic Cocktail. Old Fashioned. This drink brightens some of the darker edges of bourbon with a single sugar cube, and an orange slice.

This is a classic smoky, lightly sweetened whisky that only has 168 calories in each serving.

Martinis are healthier than a Vodka Tonic.

As with the Gin & Tonic, it’s the tonic water that gives the vodka tonic a relatively high calorie count of 233 calories per drink, Spruceeats.com reports.

A martini contains mostly vermouth and liquor. This means that a typical coupe has only 207 calories.

Swap out a Margarita for a Moscow Mule.

Margaritas, another trendy cocktail with 321 calories in each serving, are not particularly low-calorie.

You can also try the Moscow Mule, a classic limey drink that is refreshing. Each serving contains only 153 calories.

Replace a pint lager (200 cals) with a light ale (100 cals)

The calories in beer bottles and cans can vary greatly, depending on what kind of beer, which brand you drink, and how much of it.

MensHealth.com states that a regular lager contains around 170 cals.

Light BeersIf you are a beer lover, this could be a good option. Healthline.com says that they vary in calories but usually fall around 100.
