The story of the day in Charlotte may be Ryder Cup captains Luke Donald and Keegan Bradley both at the top of the leaderboard. Donald, 47, jokes he’s no candidate to play in another cup, but he gave this vote of confidence for the U.S. captain Bradley:
“Keegan is top 20 in the world. He can have one good week out here, win, which he’s very capable of, and he’s absolutely in the conversation of being a playing captain.”
On if it would be doable to have a playing captain, he said the pre-tournament work wouldn’t be an issue: “I think it’s more the demands during the week. If you’re playing yourself, you’re going to be on the golf course and so you’re going to, you’re going to have to give the choice-making, the decision-making, to someone else.”
