PetPremium, an insurance broker that compares insurance policies, connects pet owners to popular pet insurance companies. The company’s website currently states that it works with Figo pet insurance, Pets Best and Prudent.

With your zip code you can quickly find companies in your state. PetPremium is a broker site like others, but it does not provide insurance or pay for claims. It says, however, that unlike other sites, plans underwritten by United States Fire Insurance Company, may be managed on its website.

Read on to learn if PetPremium will help you find the perfect pet. Best pet insurance company.

PetPremium Offers a Variety of Pet Insurance Plans

PetPremium has partnered with a variety of pet insurance companies in the United States, including ASPCA. Figo. Fetch. PetPartners. and Pets Best. These pet insurance companies are also reviewed on our website:

Online quote generators allow pet insurance buyers to enter their pet’s breed, age and health information and get multiple quotes in seconds. This generator is easy to use and requires only your basic contact details on one form.

It was easy to get quotes from all the providers available to compare plans and prices. Often, however, our sample quotations were returned without any offers or with limited offers which did not match what the companies offered in certain states.

All Pet Premium partners that we are aware of provided quotes for our imaginary Golden Retriever Caboodle. We did not receive any quotes from Pet Premium for a mixed breed dog between the ages of 5 and 7 years old or a mid-sized dog mix in multiple states. Fetch provided only one quote on a yellow lab.

The quote we got indicated that some coverages weren’t up-to-date compared to what was listed on the website of the provider. Caboodle, for example, was charged $10.01 in premiums to cover $2,500 with 70% reimbursement. The deductible was $1,000. The ASPCA website offers deductibles of up to $500. In addition, the coverage tiers ranged from $1,000 up to unlimited. However, ASPCA Pet Health Insurance’s website offers only $2,500, $4000, $7000, and $10000 in annual coverage.

Pricing was our biggest concern. We would have expected small, temporary discounts as an incentive to buyers. PetPremium returned rates that were almost half of those we found on other sites.

We didn’t enter any payment information because ASPCA does not provide pet health insurance. We cannot tell whether the site communicated with the provider or if there was an error. But we didn’t see any sign that the site would stop accepting payment before issuing a “proof of policy”.

Riders have additional coverage options

To find out which options are included with each plan, you will need to click the “plan details dropdown” for each quote.

Standard pet insurance add-ons include:

  • Primary Care Visits
  • Spaying/neutering
  • Dental cleanings
  • Examining and treating parasites
  • Vaccinations
  • Microchipping
  • Deworming

Once you click “enroll”, you can choose optional add-ons before paying.

PetPremium Pet Insurance: Frequently Asked questions

PetPremium connects pet-owners with pet insurance companies. Once you have requested an online quote, there are several options available to cover your pet with the insurance companies.

PetPremium’s pricing depends on the plan that you buy, as well as your deductible, coverage amount, and reimbursement tier. Pricing varies based on the breed, age and pre-existing medical conditions of your animal.

According to the Better Business Bureau, Pet Premium isn’t accredited by BBB.

Why We Trust PetPremium: What we have to say about it

Insider reviews companies according to how easy they make it for customers, both in terms of purchasing a policy and filing a claim. PetPremium scores highly for the first but is less confident about the second.

PetPremium, unlike other pet insurers, sells insurance policies that are underwritten by others. The company offers a wide range of plans to suit any budget or pet’s needs, with dozens customizable filters such as deductible, reimbursement, and annual limit.

The company can be hard to reach in the case of a claim. There are few customer reviews and those that do exist tend to complain about their negative experiences.

PetPremium – How it compares

PetPremium vs. Healthy Paws Pet Insurance

Healthy Paws provides unlimited annual payouts. You can choose between a reimbursement of 70% or 80% per claim and a deductible of $250 or $500. We received quotes ranging from $41 to $55 a month for our dog Caboodle.

PetPremium’s partners were able match all these criteria at a wide range of prices. PetPartners Companion Care, a policy with a 70% reimbursement plan and deductible of $500 per month was offered at the lowest price. ASPCA Complete Coverage costs $99.62 a month and offers an 80% reimbursement with a $250 deductible.

Healthy Paws is not a wellness insurance add-on. PetPremium partners with several insurance companies that offer wellness coverage as an add-on.

Please read our article Healthy Paws Pet Insurance Review.

PetPremium vs. Pumpkin Pet Insurance

Pumpkin offers multi-policy discount for insuring more than one pet. They also reimburse 90% of all claims. A quote for Golden Retriever costs $93 a month with a $500 annual deductible, and $117 a month for a plan having a $250 annual deductible.

PetPremium, on the other hand, offered plans that were as low as $ 43.38 per month with a $500 deductable (from Pets Best Essential) to as high at $117.19 per month with a $250 deductible (from ASCPA Comprehensive Coverage).
