Texas QB Quinn Ewers is in a free-fall here as we roll toward the seventh round. There are several factors to consider here. First, all of the QBs fell. Most assumed Shedeur Sanders wouldn’t make it out of the second round and when he did — it pushed everyone else back with him. I thought Ewers was in the same tier as Kyle McCord and Will Howard. I would also note I think NDSU’s Cam Miller was a better overall prospect.
There’s plenty to like about Ewers, who has a great arm, a ton of big-game experience and proven resilience on the field. He was also hurt every year he played, he’s not big, not very athletic, fumbled way too much and really never maxed out the gaggle of weapons (he might’ve had the best supporting cast in America the last two years) at Texas.
So it’s a surprise to see him fall this far. But I’m not sure it’s a total shock. He was a bit of a wild card.
