Following the collapse of Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua, it now seems ‘The Gypsy King’ has moved on to taunting Oleksandr Usyk.
Joshua lost to Usyk in the rematch in August. Fury almost immediately called him out and offered him redemption and a chance at the WBC heavyweight title.
Initial negotiations were swift. Joshua agreeing to Fury’s termsFor a 60/40 split, and for the fight on December 3.
Problems arose, however, when Joshua’s team took their time looking over the contracts and Fury became impatient, setting various deadlines.
In interviews, both sides started to blame the other. Negotiations collapse completelyHowever, Fury will be fighting on December 3rd.
However, the opponent has not yet been announced. Mahmoud CharrAnd Derek ChisoraFury suggested that Fury could face two opponents in one night, and look like they are the front-runners.
Fury will win the challenge and be ready to fight Usyk early next year, the undisputed WBA/WBO and IBF champion.
Fury began mind games in preparation for the fight, posting an Instagram video taunting Usyk.
In the video, Fury can be seen sparring a small child, while calling him ‘Usyk’, in reference to the fact that ‘The Gypsy King’ has been describing his Ukrainian rival as a ‘blown-up middleweight’.
“Come on Usyk, look at Usyk go, come on Usyk you little midget,” Fury said in the video, as he was chased around by a child attempting to hit him, before turning to the camera and screaming out a battle cry.
In terms of a fight between Usyk and Fury next year, the Ukrainian’s manager, Egis Climates, has shared talkSPORT, “From our side, we are going to be ready 100 per cent, so if the fight does not happen, don’t blame our team.”
With that being said, Klimas revealed that if Usyk can’t fight Fury, he wants to fight Deontay Wilder instead, saying: “[Usyk] called and said, ‘If Fury’s not available and we cannot fight Fury, I would like to fight Wilder’.
“So, I asked him why and he said, ‘Because he’s a risky fighter and I like that’.”
