Josh Brolin, who is popularly known for playing Thanos in ‘Avengers: Endgame‘, expressed frustration over Denis Villeneuve’s Oscar snub for ‘Dune: Part One‘. The filmmaker was snubbed in the Best Director category despite receiving ten Oscar nominations in 2022. Many were upset at the time including Brolin. The actor is still not over it.
In a recent interview with Variety, Brolin, who is promoting his memoir ‘From Under The Truck‘, announced his decision to quit acting if Villeneuve isn’t recognized for ‘Dune: Part Two‘.
“If he doesn’t get nominated this year, I’ll quit acting. It was a better movie than the first one. When I watched it, it felt like my brain was broken open. It’s masterful, and Denis is one of our master filmmakers. If the Academy Awards have any meaning whatsoever, they’ll recognize him,” said Brolin.
In ‘Dune: Part Two‘, Brolin reprised his role as Gurney Halleck, a mentor to Timothee Chalamet’s character Paul Atreides. ‘Dune: Part Two‘ was released in March of this year and received a good response.
For the uninitiated, ‘Dune 3‘ is already in the making. Brolin along with Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Lea Seydoux, Anta Taylor-Joy, and Javier Bardem will return to their respective roles. The film will be released on December 18, 2026.

On the other hand, the Oscar nominations will be announced on January 17, 2025.
