The Buffalo Bills pulled of an absolutely stunning comeback against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, scoring 16 unanswered points in the final seven minutes of the fourth quarter to beat the Baltimore Ravens 41-40.
So unlikely was the team’s comeback bid that some fans left Highmark Stadium early. Whoops.
“I think there were some people that left the stadium, and that’s OK,” quarterback Josh Allen said after the contest on the NBC broadcast. “Have some faith next time.”
Baltimore took a 40-25 lead early in the fourth quarter after Derrick Henry’s 46-yard run, and after the two teams traded punts, Buffalo took over with 7:16 remaining. Allen led a 10-play, 80-yard touchdown drive in three minutes and 20 seconds, culminating in a touchdown pass to Keon Coleman.
Henry shockingly fumbled just two plays into Baltimore’s subsequent drive, and four plays later Allen bulldozed his way into the end zone to pull within two. The Bills failed to capitalize on the two-point conversion, however, giving the Ravens the ball back with just under two minutes remaining.
The defense stood tall, forcing a three-and-out, and the Bills got the ball back on their own 20-yard line with 1:33 remaining. Allen handled it from there, driving the Bills down the field to set up Matt Prater’s game-winning field goal.
It felt like a playoff game. It was only Week 1. And to think there were some fans who missed it, trying to beat the traffic.
