Washington Commanders star receiver Terry McLaurin’s contract dispute was resolved on Monday, and no one is happier for him than his quarterback Jayden Daniels.
After it was announced that McLaurin received a three-year, $96 million contract extension, Daniels celebrated on social media with a playful message to the wideout to “Lemme hold [some] $.”
McLaurin was in attendance during training camp but refused to practice until his contract demands were met. Both sides were entrenched in their stance for quite some time before Monday’s resolution.
McLaurin produced a career-high 13 touchdowns in his first year with Daniels under center. The signal-caller went on to be named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year after leading the Commanders to a 12-5 record and a trip to the NFC Championship Game.
Following Monday’s deal for McLaurin, he and Daniels can now pick up where they left off as Washington prepares for its Sept. 7 season opener against the New York Giants.
