James Gunn teases about David Corenswet-led ‘Superman’s runtime

James Gunn-directed ‘Superman‘ starring David Corenswet as the new man of Steel is one of the most-anticipated films of 2025. The first trailer for ‘Superman’ was recently released and garnered over 250 million views in just 24 hours.

The excitement for the upcoming superhero film is at an all-time high. And as fans look forward to ‘Superman‘, James Gunn revealed the maximum length of the film’s runtime.

“It’s not finished yet so I don’t know… Under two and a half hours,” revealed the filmmaker on Threads.

Reacting to this, a fan wrote, “Darn I was hoping for 4 hours after that teaser. I’m a die hard Superman fan. I cannot wait! Thank you.” Another one commented, “Please James we need 3 hours.” “Perfect runtime in my opinion,” wrote a fan. Another one commented, “Please don’t cut it down to the bone… We’re cool with a longer runtime allowing it to breathe.”

Corenswet is stepping in the shoes of Henry Cavill in the new ‘Superman’ film. The upcoming film also stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, and Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner.

The trailer gave a glimpse into the world of Superman, his friends, his enemies, his romance with Lois Lane, and his faithful friend, Kypto the dog.

Superman‘ is slated to be released in July 2025.
