Apple’s iPad Pro line was last updated in April 2021. The M1 processor was added to the platform and Liquid Retina XDR mini LED technology was added to the 12.9 inch model. While the next model is being developed, when will it be available for purchase?
There are reports that an M2 processor may soon be available. MagSafe charging and a glass back could also be included in the future. Here’s everything you need to know about a new iPad Pro that could arrive in just a few weeks.
iPad Pro Release Date: When will iPad Pro’s next version arrive?
New iPad Pro models are expected to launch in fall 2022. Apple Event in October or released as an update to Apple’s website. The iPad Pro doesn’t really have much of a predictable release schedule, but we’re due for an update as it’s been about 18 months between releases. Apple has never released the iPad Pro in full every two years.

In March, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggested that a A new iPad Pro will be launched in fall 2022 – he actually predicted a launch between September and November 2022. He said it would be the most important update since 2018’s all-screen redesign.

We expect a higher price if a larger screen, 14-inch or 15-inch model launches. The pricing of the iPad Pro range will likely change in the US. However pricing in the UK or elsewhere is likely be adjusted for inflation.
You can use pricing data from the last few generations to guide you. Here’s how the baseline models lined up at launch:

In previous years you’d have seen equivalent prices for U.K. and U.S., e.g. $999/£999, or even a lower price point for the U.K., but those days seem to be long gone as we saw with the iPhone 14. We expect Apple to increase its price in the U.K. with this in mind. Prices in the U.K. should be similar or higher than those in the U.S.
iPad Pro 2022: Rumors
In 2018, the iPad Pro saw a major redesign. It was the first iPad with Face ID. The iPad Pro also had a full-screen display thanks to the smaller bezels and removal of the Home button. Are there more design changes?
M2 processor
Apple likes to give the best of its processor lineup into its pro tablets. This is why they are so powerful. The iPad Pro was first iPad to receive an M1 processor. The iPad Air followed suit shortly after. To differentiate the iPad Pro from its predecessor, Apple now needs a new processor.

Glass back
Gurman and others have suggested that the new iPad Pro will be made with a glass back, rather than aluminum. Apple might have abandoned plans for a glass back, however, as it is too fragile. MagSafe and wireless charging

While it’s long been rumored that Apple would like to do away with all ports on its devices, we can’t see this being the time when it happens, as Pro users like to have the option to plug accessories into their devices to expand their capabilities.
Reverse wireless charging
The introduction of wireless charging could also usher in another feature that’s been popular on Android devices for a while: reverse wireless charging. New colors
Apple recently introduced new shades to its Mac line that can be shared with iPad Pro. Basic Apple Guy shared a Midnight concept design of an iPad Pro.
It’s also possible that Apple expands the color line like it did with the iPad mini and iPad Air with Starlight and the iPhone 14’s new Deep Purple color, especially if it switches to glass like the iPhone.

This update will be smaller than usual, but Apple has bigger plans for future iPad Pro models.
Liquid Retina Pro 11-inch iPad Pro XDR
Apple was rumored to equip the new iPad Pro, 11 inches in size, with a mini LED display similar to its larger sibling. But this could not happen in 2022. analyst Ross Young tweeted that Apple’s mini-LED products probably won’t launch in 2022, which suggests that the 11-inch iPad Pro won’t be getting a miniLED display until 2023 or 2024.

We’ve seen other reports that say Apple is thinking of positioning the cameras on the longer side of the chassis, essentially making them landscape orientated devices. The notch could be a reality with this move, just like the 16-inch MacBook Pro and 14-inch MacBook Pro. The iPad Pro would find it more intrusive than the iPad Pro’s menu bar at the top of their screens. With the introduction The iPhone 14 features Dynamic Island, it’s possible that Apple introduces something similar on the iPad Pro.

Touch ID under display
Touch ID enthusiasts may be hopeful that the technology will make its way back to the iPad Pro. Apple is said to have been working on under screen Touch ID for some time but hasn’t introduced the tech in any device. Unfortunately it doesn’t sound like this will make an appearance on the iPad Pro yet—but it may well arrive on the iPad before it arrives on the iPhone.
Ross Young, Display Analyst, contributed to the MacRumors ShowHe expects that under-display Face ID will first be available on the iPad in July 2022. However, it won’t be this year: Young suggests that a future iPad Pro would be the first candidate for the technology.
Displays with dry etched, OLED backlighting are lighter
The iPad Pro’s 11-inch iPad Pro weighs in at 466g and 682g respectively. Apple switching from aluminium to aluminum on the back could lead to an increase in the iPad Pro’s weight. According to reports, Apple is currently looking at a technology that would allow the iPad Pro to be lighter. According to ET News, Apple is looking into adopting “dry etching,” which is a process that can lead to thinner and lighter displays. This method, when paired with OLED screens, is more likely for the next iPad Pro update to come out in 2023 and 2024.

Ross Young, a DSSC analyst, stated that an 14.1-inch iPad Pro was in development at Apple and could be launched as early as 2023.
Timing is the main problem. When the report was published in January 2022 BOE was said to still at an early stage of development, and the project is unlikely to yield actual commercial products for another year or two – and may never do so at all, sources say, “due to the difficulty of the technology”.
As for Apple’s own testing, that may be more promising, but bear in mind that the company routinely tests a wide variety of screen sizes for all of its products, just to see if a tweak would help. That doesn’t mean it’s actually going to happen.
Mark Gurman and we love the idea for a giant iPad Pro. But considering how expensive the 12.9-inch model already is, and how much more commercially successful the company’s cheaper and small alternatives are, it seems like a long shot for a 14- or 15-inch iPad Pro to appear in the near future.
