Nuclear rivals India and Pakistan have moved closer to military confrontation. The fast-rising tensions between the two countries escalated following the killing of at least 26 tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir, the worst assault targeting civilians in the restive region for years. In a series of escalating tit-for-tat moves since the massacre, India ordered its citizens to return from Pakistan, while Pakistan expelled a number of Indian diplomats. Islamabad closed its airspace to Indian aircraft and warned that any effort by Delhi to interfere with the supply of water under a decades-old treaty would be viewed as an act of war. It prompted India to renew its blaming of Pakistan for sustaining “cross-border terrorism”, a claim Pakistan denies.
Amid this Instagram account of several Pakistani actors are no longer accessible in India. “Account not available in India. This is because we complied with a legal request to restrict this content,” Instagram has said on these accounts. The blocked accounts belong to several prominent figures including Hania Aamir, Mahira Khan, Ali Zafar, Iqra Aziz, Sajal Aly, Imran Abbas, Sanam Saeed, Bilal Abbas, among others.
The move comes after India also banned Pakistani YouTube channels including Dawn News, Geo News, and ARY news, among more, for allegedly sharing misleading narratives and misinformation against India, its Army and security agencies in the wake of Pahalgam attack.
