House of the Dragon’s sixth episode was shocking for varied reasons, apart from the 10-year time jump. Aegon, the teenage protagonist, stands out above all the tensions between major characters. He is mean, insensitive and loud. Many believe that Daemon is one and the same. However, the sixth episode shows his nuanced layers as well as his reasonings for being the way they are. Thus, people empathise.
Aegon has no worries in this world. While many may think he is a brash teenager, it isn’t the case. There’s more to the story than meets the eye. Twitter user also noted the similarity between Aegon and Twitter. Game of ThronesJoffrey, the most hated of all characters. Both are naracassits without souls. So far, that’s how one perceives Aegon. Joffrey was not given a greater role but Aegon will be the central character of the show’s portrayal. Dance with Dragons.

The King Who Westeros Desires
Let’s first talk about Joffery. He was a liar and was responsible for the murder of Arya’s friend and Sansa the dire wolf. Many believe that he got pleasure, most likely sexually, from causing or seeing others’ pain. While Aegon has been mean, he has not yet reached Joffery’s point. Still, it doesn’t redeem him from what a pain he is.
Apart from picking on his brother, he plays dirty with Jacaerys, Rhaenyra’s oldest son, and even pleasures himself while standing on his window, where the entire King’s Landing could see him.
Queen Alicent, however, is his only control. He is very similar to Joffrey who wouldn’t go against Cersei, his mother. They are also rarely able to see their fathers, and their mothers have to survive by politics.
Because Viserys is so unwell, and consistently has to work to keep Rhaenyra and Alicent away from each other’s throat, he is unable to focus on Aegon. While he understands where his son stands, he can’t intervene now because Alicent takes care of everything else. He is also likely to say anything to her that could be used against Rhaenrya.
One of the reasons for his behaviour is his mother’s support. He has been raised by his mother to ascend to the throne. It seems that he is unbothered by everything, mostly apathy. He also seems disinterested in his family because of the politics. This is very similar to Joffery who wanted to continue with his entertainment.

Now that we have a sense of his character, let’s look at the next burning question. Did he deface Game of Throne’s Tommen’s window? Well, no. No. These scenes were almost identical, but with very different results, which made Aegon an arrogant and unhinged teenager.
While Aegon doesn’t seem like a threat now, he will become ruthless when he officially challenges Rhaenyra for the succession to the throne. Aegon’s bizarre sexual behavior makes him a fascinating character.
