Promoters from both sides remain positive, even though Tyson Fury said that he will not fight Anthony Joshua.
Negotiations for the ‘Battle of Britain’ had being progressing well after Joshua accepted Fury’s terms to fight on December 3, with a 60/40 split in favour of ‘The Gypsy King’, moving to a 50/50 split in the rematch should ‘AJ’ win the first fight.
The whole deal appears to have collapsed since Fury was frustrated that Joshua had not signed the contract. He gave Monday, at 5pm, as his deadline. For the deal to be done.
Joshua did not sign the deadline. He explained that the contracts were currently with his lawyers and Fury announced that on social media. The fight was overInstead, he would fight Mahmoud Charr.
Despite Fury’s announcement, his promoter, Frank Warren, told talkSPORT that He was still working hard to make this fight happen..
“We’re trying to get it done by today,” Warren said. “We’re working very hard to get it over the line.
“If everyone agreed everything, it would be a huge undertaking, but we could do it that way.
“Tyson has told me what he wants. They’ve had the contract for ten days and he’s lost patience with it.
“We’re trying to make it work and we had a good meeting today so we’ll see what happens.”
This sentiment was echoed by Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, who posted on Twitter, saying, “I agree with Frank!”
Hearn followed up by saying, “There were various positive calls today between promoters and broadcasters who are all working hard to finalise the fight.
“There has been no talk of a deadline between the parties, but we are moving at pace to try and conclude the deal.”
