Early Signs Something Was Wrong
Jaxon Feeley, a podcast host known for his motivational content, shares his life with two cherished Weimaraners—Rocky, the elder, and two-year-old Rambo. Anyone familiar with Weimaraners knows they are typically full of energy and enthusiasm, so it didn’t take long for Jaxon to notice something was off with Rambo. She had become lethargic and started vomiting repeatedly one night. Concerned, he rushed her to an emergency veterinary hospital.
A Sudden Decline
Doctors diagnosed Rambo with a severe stomach virus, but her condition quickly deteriorated. She slipped into hypovolemic shock—a dangerous condition caused by a sudden loss of fluids, which in her case meant her heart could no longer function properly. The vet team did everything they could to stabilize her, but her situation worsened.
Within a few days, Rambo had developed pneumonia so severe that one of her lungs collapsed. Her lungs became infected and filled with fluid, a condition called pulmonary edema. Multiple times each day, vets had to remove fluid just to keep her breathing.
“She really couldn’t have been more unlucky,” said one of the vet techs.
Mounting Costs and a Difficult Decision
Throughout the ordeal, Rambo was too weak to eat or drink. She hadn’t had solid food for over a week, and there was concern she had developed an abscess on her lung—something that might require surgery costing thousands more.
Still, Jaxon never left her side. He and Rocky stayed in his car near the veterinary clinic, so he could visit Rambo several times a day. He did everything he could to comfort her, letting her know she wasn’t alone.
But the costs were staggering. In just the first week, her treatment costs had climbed to over $15,000, and the daily care added another $1300 each day. As the bills surpassed $26,000, Jaxon made the difficult decision to ask for help and launched a GoFundMe campaign.
A Miraculous Recovery
Thanks to generous supporters, enough funds were raised to continue Rambo’s treatment. Then, against all odds, the tide began to turn. Within just three days, her health dramatically improved. She began eating, drinking, and even wagging her tail again. The once-grave prognosis gave way to hope. Rambo’s vets finally gave the good news—she could go home. Jaxon was overwhelmed with relief. After everything, he had his girl back!
