A Loyal Pup With a Big Heart

Hazel, an adorably fluffy Yorkie-Chihuahua-Poodle mix, lives in Abilene, Texas, with her owner Monica Burks, 48. Every day, she brings joy and laughter to Monica’s life with her cheerful attitude and loving nature.
One rainy day, however, Hazel did something that left her mom completely stunned.
A Routine Potty Break Turned Into a Rescue Mission
That afternoon, Monica let Hazel outside to do her business. Though it was pouring rain, the pup still needed a quick break.
But minutes passed, then more time slipped by—and Hazel still hadn’t returned. Monica grew concerned.
She peeked outside, expecting to see Hazel taking her time or playing in the drizzle. Instead, she witnessed something incredible.

A Tiny Kitten in Need of a Hero

After what felt like forever, the drenched duo finally reached the front of the house. But there was one last obstacle—the doorstep was too high for the tiny kitten to climb.
That’s when Hazel, showing her maternal instincts, gently picked the kitten up by the scruff of her neck and carried her safely inside.

Monica immediately took the kitten in, caring for her under Hazel’s watchful eye. They named her Sheba, and the tiny rescue finally had the love and security she had been missing.
But the story doesn’t end there.
Sheba was later adopted by Monica’s brother, Michael, ensuring she would always remain close to the family. Since Hazel and Sheba formed such a strong bond, Michael and Monica make sure they spend plenty of time together.
To this day, the two remain inseparable, proving that love and kindness can come in the most unexpected ways.
