Broncos vs. Chargers. Can Denver overcome its AFC West woes?

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — If the fixes don’t produce results for the BroncosIs it possible to expect them to arrive in this season, after an 11-day delay?

Denver didn’t expect to enter its Week 6 matchup with the ChargersAt SoFi Stadium in a “must-win” situationAs safety Justin SimmonsIt was Thursday. But after two straight losses and an overall uninspiring start that has left Denver at 2-3, that’s exactly where the Broncos are.

The good news is that the Broncos have an AFC West matchup against the Chargers. They are the only team in this division Denver has beaten since 2019. This gives them a chance to turn the tide and start a run that could win them their bye week at November’s start.

“Everything that we want is still in front of us,” quarterback Russell Wilson said. “We have to play great this week and keep going.”

Here are 10 thoughts, observations and notes heading into Monday night’s game:

1. Since beating the Chargers at their home Nov. 28, 2021, the Broncos haven’t won an AFC West match. Since then they have lost five straight, including a 34-13 loss at SoFi Stadium to the Chargers in Week 17. From the start of the 2019 season, only five Broncos games have been won in their division. The failure of the circuit has made it impossible to dream about a playoff.
