- Activists parade Ron Johnson’s statue in Milwaukee covered in cow poop.
- The statue covered in manure made its debut in the city on Thursday.
- The statue is meant to call out Johnson for claiming in 2021 that climate change is “bullshit.”
A statue covered in manure of Sen. Ron Johnson makes its way around Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which is his hometown state.
Progressive activist groups NextGen PAC and MoveOn unveiled the statue — which they call a “scatue,” Scott Bauer, Associated Press journalist — in Milwaukee on Thursday.
According to NextGen PACIt is an attempt to convince “climate-motivated” voters to vote for Johnson in the next midterm elections.
Johnson’s comments at the GOP luncheon 2021 are what the statue is to highlight. At the event, he downplayed the effects of climate change while citing Lord Christopher Monckton — a British conservative pundit and climate change denier.
“I don’t know about you guys, but I think climate change is — as Lord Monckton said — bullshit,” Johnson was seen saying at the time. This is a CNN obtained the video.Johson can often be seen silently uttering “bullshit”, but not speaking it loudly.
Johnson said in the video that “By the Way, It Is.”
The activists brought Johnson’s poop-covered statue to their home state in protest of his comments.
Ron Johnson believes that climate change is “bullshit” and is threatening communities all across the country. We disagree and believe he’s projecting,” MoveOn tweeted on Thursday.
MoveOn also posted photos that day of climate activists gathering around the statue covered in dung. They demanded that Wisconsinites be given a senator who will address climate change.
NextGen also posted some snaps of the “scatue,” saying that the group was joining MoveOn to “call out Ron Johnson’s bullsh*t… literally.”
The people in Wisconsin deserve a senator who believes in climate change and won’t take money from the fossil fuel industry to get richer himself.
That’s why we joined @MoveOn in Milwaukee today to call out Ron Johnson’s bullsh*t… literally. 💩
