Max Verstappen will have a new voice on the other end of his team radio this weekend in Austria as his race engineer, GianPiero Lambiase, will miss the race due to personal reasons.
Lambiase has served as Verstappen’s race engineer for every single race the Dutchman has entered with Red Bull, starting with his victory on debut at the Spanish Grand Prix in 2016.
Together they have won four world championships and 65 races.
Lambiase was promoted to become Red Bull’s head of racing last year, but has continued as Verstappen’s race engineer.
Lambiase will be replaced for this weekend by Simon Rennie, who was previously Daniel Ricciardo’s race engineer at Red Bull.
Rennie has since become the team’s simulator chief, helping its preparations for races back at base.
