Netflix’s ‘Squid Game‘ is set to return with its third and final season on June 27, 2025, and the excitement among fans is sky-high. Seung Gi-hun, played by Lee Jung-jae, will be back to take revenge. But will he be successful in putting an end to the deadly games? What will happen when he finally comes face-to-face with The Frontman, played by Lee Byung-hun?
Besides Gi-hun and the Frontman, other characters like Hwang Jun-ho (played by Wi Ha-jun), who is looking for the island where the games are held, and other survivors like Myung-gi (Yim Si-wan), Dae-ho (Kang Ha-neul), Hyun-ju (Park Sung-hoon), Yong-sik (Yang Dong-geun), Geum-ja (Kang Ae-shim), Jun-hee (Jo Yu-ri), are also returning in the upcoming season.
A lot is being said about season 3. From BTS’ V making a cameo to Gong Yoo’s character, The Recruiter, making a comeback, some rumours are all over the internet. Before the third season releases on Netflix, here’s what we know about these rumours that are hard to ignore.

The rumours of V’s cameo started gaining traction last year, specifically after he wore a Squid Game-esque guard costume during BTS’ ‘Permission To Dance On Stage‘ concert in Los Angeles in 2021. Later, a photo of him with Lee Jung-jae also went viral on social media. During a recent Weverse Live, V hinted at a new project, saying, “Maybe if we wait a little longer, I think it’ll come out. But it’s not really a big deal. Oh, but to me, it’s actually a big deal.” This left many convinced that he was talking about ‘Squid Game‘.

Lee Jin-wook is not dead: In the second season, Jin-wook’s character, Park Gyeong-seok, aka Player 246, was killed by a guard. In the ‘Squid Game‘ season 3 teaser released this year, a man is shown being scanned by one of the masked men. Though only the lower part of his face is visible, fans believe that it’s Gyeong-seok, and he is alive.
If that isn’t enough, previously, Park Gyu-young, who plays Kang No-eun, shared a photo of herself beside a man believed to be Jin-wook. And well, what’s interesting is that he was wearing a pink guard uniform. So, it is possible that No-eun saved him, and now he’s one of the guards? We can’t wait to see!
Geum-ja and Yong-sik – who will survive? The second season introduced a mother-son duo, Jang Geum-ja (Player 149) and Park Yong-sik (Player 007), who entered the games unknowingly. In the teaser, a chilling moment shows them drawing different-coloured balls, followed by Geum-ja breaking down in tears. Fans wonder if one of them will die in the end.
Final three games in season 3 revealed? According to a post by entertainment scooper @MyTimeToShineH on X (formerly known as Twitter), the final three games in ‘Squid Game‘ season 3 are titled ‘Hide and Seek‘, ‘Jump Rope‘, and ‘Squid Game in the Sky‘.
Is The Recruiter still alive? In the second season’s first episode, after a confrontation with Gi-hun, The Recruiter (played by Gong Yoo) loses a game of Russian Roulette and shoots himself. Is he dead? Well, many don’t think so.
Some eagle-eyed fans spotted an interesting detail in the show’s second episode, ‘Halloween Party’. In the scene at the beginning of episode two, while Gi-hun and Woo-seok talk, the Recruiter’s eyes appear to open. His eyes are open even when Woo-seok yells at him for killing his boss. Some fans believe that it was all intentional, hinting that he might return.
