Bowen Yang is still straight in ‘SNL’ hookup with Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett Johansson made a startling confession in her latest return to Saturday Night Live: She has a massive crush on a certain cast member… and it’s not her husband.

Sorry, Colin Jost, but in a sequel to a fan-favorite sketch from last year, Johansson revealed that she’s crushing hard on SNL‘s Bowen Yang. But even after sharing her news, she admitted that nothing can happen. Not only is she married to Yang’s costar Jost, but Yang, she thinks, is gay. 

“Um, yeah, no, Bowen is not gay,” cast member Heidi Gardner reveals early in the sketch.

“Bowen is straight as hell,” adds Ego Nwodim. 

Confused, Johansson says, “But at the [SNL] 50th I saw him sobbing over Cher.”

“It’s all fake, girl,” Gardner tells her. “He just dials up the gay for clout.”

Johansson and Yang then lock eyes across the room and he strides over in her direction — only to fall into the arms of Gina Gershon.

“Of course he’s with Gina Gershon,” Johansson says, resigned.

Later, the Jurassic World Rebirth actress is in the 30 Rockefeller Plaza elevator, snuggled up to her husband, when Yang interrupts.

“What’s up, Colin? Good work this season. Keep it up. Excited to watch you grow,” he says condescendingly, before dismissing Jost from the elevator.

“No problem. I’ll just take the stairs,” Jost says, keeping things lighthearted. “It’s only 30 flights.”

With Jost gone, the tension between Johansson and Yang immediately bubbles over into exaggerated flirting.

“Scarlett, Scarlett, my Jurassic harlot,” Yang taunts. “Listen, you know Colin’s my SNL brother, and I would never do anything to hurt him…”

Leaning in close to Johansson, he adds, “But I would f— his wife.”

But much like Sydney Sweeney in the OG “Bowen’s Straight” sketch, Johansson learns the hard way that Yang can’t be tied down to a single woman.

After their hookup, Yang invites her to stop by his place at 2 a.m., adding, “Wear something pretty, okay?” However, when Johansson knocks on his door that night, it’s clear that Yang has forgotten about their date. He also has Nwodim in his bedroom — and Gardner in his shower.

“You slept with Ego?!” Johansson exclaims.

Yang brushes her off. “What do you want me to say?”

“I don’t know,” Johansson replies. “That we had a connection.”

“Oh, so now we’re dating?! I just found out who you were this morning!” Yang yells, before adding, “God, you’re suffocating me,” and punching a wall much like Johansson’s onscreen ex Adam Driver in their 2019 movie, Marriage Story.

Afterwards, Johansson gets some wise words for Gardner: “If you keep asking yourself why, you’ll go crazy.”

“I got gaslit by Bowen Yang,” Johansson declares, then peers down at Yang getting into his sports car with Emily Ratajkowski. “Lesson learned: Never get your back blown out by a gay guy.”

Yang previously played the part of a toxic straight man when Sweeney hosted the show in March 2024, and the gay comedian later joked that it was hard to let go of his heterosexual persona.

“I think I understand why Austin Butler talked like Elvis for a while after the movie [Elvis],” he announced during a Late Night With Seth Meyers interview. “So I think for a couple more weeks, I’m still straight. Ladies, get in there.”
