Reflecting on the moment, Kris shared, “The rabbit’s cries might have sounded like a fawn in trouble to the deer. Or maybe, just maybe, it was a real-life Bambi and Thumper moment.” Even with years of experience outdoors, he admitted he had never seen anything quite like it before.
When he reviewed the footage, the shocking events played out before him. “I couldn’t believe what I was watching,” Kris said. “I showed the video to my coworker, and we were both completely speechless.”
What made this event even more remarkable is that Nordic Mountain Country Park is a protected space where hunting is banned, allowing its population of white-tailed deer to roam freely and without fear. This likely helped the deer develop such boldness and confidence, making the rescue possible.
