In a shocking and heartbreaking scene, a small dog was discovered tied by its leash to active commuter rail tracks in Everett, Massachusetts—left in a potentially deadly situation.
The incident occurred behind the Encore Boston Harbor Casino, in an isolated part of the tracks. The dog, visibly frightened and alone, was found with a chewed leash still attached to the rails, suggesting the pup may have fought to free itself before help arrived.
Authorities believe someone intentionally left the dog there, and they are now investigating this alarming case of animal cruelty.
A Team Effort Saves a Life
The discovery sparked an urgent response. Working together, the Everett Fire Department, Everett Animal Control, and casino staff coordinated to reach the dog before any trains arrived.
Thanks to precise timing using train arrival data, first responders were able to safely access the site and rescue the dog.
No injuries were reported, and the dog is now safe in the care of Everett Animal Control.

The area where the dog was found is not easily accessible, adding to concerns that this was a deliberate act. Investigators are now trying to determine who left the dog behind—and why.
