When Blake first heard about Mr. Muggles, a sweet dog with a severe medical condition, he didn’t hesitate. He didn’t know Mr. Muggles personally. They’d never met. But Blake knew he had to help.
So, he got in his car and drove 17 hours from Los Angeles to Seattle to meet a dog that many had overlooked—and most would have deemed “unadoptable.”
Mr. Muggles had been born with hydrocephalus, a condition where spinal fluid builds up in the brain, creating pressure and preventing his skull from fully forming. It left him vulnerable—two soft spots at the top of his head meant even a minor bump could be life-threatening.
Flying wasn’t an option. The altitude could put too much pressure on Mr. Muggles’ brain. So Blake hit the road, starting not only a cross-country trip but a lifelong bond that neither of them saw coming.
A Bond Built Mile by Mile
Blake’s journey wasn’t just about covering physical distance—it was emotional. With Mr. Muggles riding beside him, the long hours on the road forged a connection few people ever get to experience.
Mr. Muggles, though developmentally delayed due to his condition, quickly showed his personality. Curious, joyful, and filled with a gentle spark, he didn’t let his diagnosis define him.
Blake immediately knew this dog was something special. And from that moment forward, he made it his mission to give Mr. Muggles the safe, happy life he deserved.
A Custom Helmet for a One-of-a-Kind Dog
Hydrocephalus would always pose risks. But that didn’t mean Mr. Muggles couldn’t enjoy life to the fullest. Blake—whose background is in automotive work—took it upon himself to engineer a solution.
Finding no protective gear on the market suitable for a dog like Mr. Muggles, Blake designed and built a custom helmet from scratch.
He used a hand-made stencil, laid carbon fiber, and added custom padding to protect the fragile spots on Mr. Muggles’ skull. It was more than just gear—it was a symbol of Blake’s commitment to helping his new companion thrive.
Now, Mr. Muggles can explore the outdoors safely. He can play, go on adventures, and sniff the world around him without his condition holding him back.

Blake says Mr. Muggles is not in pain—just simple, joyful, and full of love. He has his quirks and preferences like any dog, and he lives each day without the weight of knowing he’s different.
His cheerful personality brightens any room, bringing smiles and comfort even on the hardest days.
