As many know, James Gunn-directed film ‘Superman‘ was originally titled ‘Superman: Legacy‘. So what led Gunn to change the title? Why did he decide to drop ‘Legacy’? We finally have an answer to your question.
In an interview with ComicBook, Gunn shared how he and his team did ‘pre-mortems’ to anticipate ways ‘Superman‘ might fail. They discussed things like the script, casting, and team meetings to improve the film before it was too late.
The filmmaker added, “Everyone is allowed to say whatever they think and I found that very helpful. One of the things was, maybe the title… had a looking-back feeling about it, and this isn’t about looking back; this is about looking forward. When you see the movie, you’ll understand where ‘Legacy’ comes from because it is, again, about Clark and his relationship to the script… and whose Legacy is he, really? And so it’s about that. But I think as a title… it felt too looking back.”
On Thursday, December 19, the first official trailer for ‘Superman‘ was released. David Corenswet is stepping into the shoes of Henry Cavill to play the Man of Steel. Going by the fan reactions, the ‘Superman’ trailer has won hearts.
Apart from David as the new Superman, Gunn’s upcoming film also stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, and Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl.
‘Superman’ will be released in July 2025.
