Elon Musk’s X app (formerly known as Twitter) is looking for help to become a hub of stock trading for its users. Semafor was reported.
Semafor, citing sources who are familiar with the situation and a request to provide plans, said that in the last couple of weeks the social-media company reached out financial-data companies to gain support for the proposed project.
The request read: “Real time information is powerful, especially in investing.” It asked for proposals on financial features like live market data.
Semafor said that X’s request did not include any plans for compensation, and asked bidders how much money they were willing to spend on the project. Semafor confirmed that, although it’s not clear how many proposals were submitted, they had to be received by last week.

Even so, the idea of turning X into a trading platform is not far from previous ideas. Since 2022, users can search for financial data by using “Cashtags”, which is a combination of a dollar symbol and a ticker symbol.
Twitter has also joined the a Partnership with eToroBy granting users access to eToro platform, it will allow them to trade stocks and assets. Semafor stated that the feature has not yet been implemented.
