Compound Butter Recipe
Recently, I had dinner in a nice restaurant. The steak was my choice. It was served with a herb-infused butter compound. The flavored butter with the steak and vegetables was one of the best things I’ve ever had.
Because gourmet restaurant meals can be expensive, I decided that I would recreate the compound herb butter at home. I’ve enjoyed experimenting with different flavor combinations. So far some flavors I’ve tried are garlic herb compound butter with both fresh garlic and roasted garlic. It was also good to have honey butter mixed with fresh rosemary, sea salt and a bit of sea-salt.
This stuff is so good that I would eat it plain.
Compound butter can be used to enhance the flavor of savory dishes. You get the health benefits from various dried or fresh herbs, and you can make a beautiful presentation. You can use both salted and unsalted Butter. If you’ve never tried it, take a few minutes and spice up your butter!
A few notes I’ve found along the way:
- It’s important to ensure the butter is soft but not completely melted before mixing it with herbs. The flavor is enhanced and the process is easier when you use softened butter.
- Add one teaspoon of high quality Olive oilSpreadable compound butter with great flavor.
- This won’t store long in the fridge because it’s often eaten within hours at our house.
