Steven Gerrard, the former Aston Villa manager who was the favorite to be the next Aston Villa head coach until yesterday has seen his odds drop overnight from 6/4 down to 5/1.
Many people were surprised to hear that Darren Moore was no longer the manager of Sheffield Wednesday after their dramatic play-off victory last season.
The Owls under Moore overturned a 4-1 first-leg loss against Peterborough during the semi finals. Barnsley was defeated in the final by a 123rd-minute winner in extratime.
Sheffield Wednesday, who spent the last two seasons in League One will return to the Championship in the coming season. They are now on the lookout for a new coach following Moore’s mutually agreed departure.
Paul Ince took over as Reading manager in 2021-22. Initially, it was a caretaker position. However, last summer, after surviving the relegation and a six-point deduction, Ince became the permanent manager.
The Royals’ move into the third division of English football was the result of Ince’s Royals losing six points.
Former England international, the former Blackburn manager has also managed in the Premier League.

The odds for the former Southampton Manager Nathan Jones have dropped from 8/1 overnight to 11/4.
The Welshman was a disappointment at Saints last year. He played only 14 games before being fired in February. But the 50-yearold has had great success before in the Championship.
Jones was Luton’s manager for two stints. He first guided the Hatters to League One, then left the club in second place in the table to become Stoke’s new manager in January.
After returning to Kenilworth, he led Luton into the Championship Play-off Semi Finals and won the Division’s Manager of the Season award in his second year back.
Overnight, the odds of Gerrard taking over Hillsborough from his former teammate have fallen to 5/1.
Gerrard, who has not had a managerial position since being fired as Aston Villa manager in October of last year is rumoured to be interested in the Hillsborough post.
In 2021, the 43-year old won his first title as manager of Rangers.
Bruno Lage, the former Benfica coach and Primeira Liga champion is also on the list. His odds have fallen from 6/1 to just 5/1.
The 47 year old is currently unemployed since Wolves sent him his marching orders in October of last.
Vitor Campelos was also on the list of candidates to replace Lage at Hillsborough. His odds are 8/1, but he had been as low as 5/2 just yesterday.
The 48-year old recently left his position as manager of Portuguese club Chaves. With them, he achieved promotion into the top flight in just his first full year and then guided the team to a seventh place finish in their return to the Primeira Liga.
The odds of former Owls manager Carlos Carvalhal, who led the club within a penalty shootout to the Premier League in 2017, have risen from 2/1 up to 12/1.
The Portuguese led the club to two Championship Play-Off Finals in just three years. He also managed Swansea during the second half 2017-2018 season.
The 57 year old was most recently the manager of Celta, a club that was in a relegation fight when he took over. Celta won the title on the last day of the season after beating Barcelona.
Torsten Lieberknecht, the current Darmstadt manager, is also in contention at 12/1.
Lieberknecht, in his second year as club manager, has earned promotion to Bundesliga in Germany with the German team.
