Donald Trump Could Learn Halloween If His Business Will be Monitored

Donald Trump may get some frightening news for Halloween: A Manhattan judge has scheduled October 31 for a hearing regarding New York Attorney General. Letitia James’ demandThe former president’s real estate and golf resort empire must be submitted to an independent financial monitor.

New York Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron Thursday night, agreedTo a Halloween-morning court appointment.

Engoron will preside at the event as Trump lawyers and the attorney General argue in court over Trump’s business. James was sued for fraudIt is so full of ongoing fraud that financial monitoring is urgently needed.

Thursday night’s judge also ruled that James can email Alina Habba and Eric Trump lawyers a copy from her lawsuit. This would suffice for formal service of the suit.

Habba was not present in court for the three weeks that have passed since the lawsuit was filed. has not accepted formal service of the lawsuitEric Trump’s attorneys have also filed court papers claiming that the attorney general is accusing Trump’s team of “gamesmanship.”

Insider repeatedly asked Clifford S. Robert (the lawyer representing Eric Trump) for comment about the service of the lawsuit.

Habba issued a press release earlier Thursday in which he called the latest request for relief by the attorney general a “stunt” and insisting that “We have repeatedly given assurance, in writing,” that the Trump Organization had no plans to do anything wrong.

James’ office wants to issue a Halloween order for the Trump Organization to stop “any fraudulent or unlawful acts.” According to court papersFilled earlier Thursday.

She asked the judge for further prohibition on Trump’s transfer of company assets to Trump Organization II. Trump registered the company with New York’s State Department the day James sued him and his family.

She also requested that the judge appoint an independent monitor to “oversee compliance” with any ban on fraud or asset shifting the judge may impose.

It is possible for a decision to be rendered in one day. After hearing oral arguments, Engoron made several same-day rulings in cases involving James’ investigation into alleged financial misconduct at the business of the former president. 

Trump’s side has until October 24, to file papers against the demands of the attorney general; the attorney general then has until October 27, to respond to the papers.
