They say love can move mountains and, in this case, it’s true. Nothing can stop a person from being reunited to loved ones. This is what Emma, a partially paralyzed pet dog, does after her dad returns home from long deployment.
Emma, a pit bull-mix dog mix, was born paralysed in her hind legs. A couple who foster special needs dogs for SNARR adopted Emma. Emma developed a special bond with her military dad after her adoption.
Emma felt very sorry for her dad when he was away. While Emma waited for her human dad to return, the dog spent time with her mom and her dog siblings.
Six months later Emma heard the footsteps she’d been waiting for. He was at home! Then, she sat down at one end of the hallway and waited for him open the front door. Emma waits patiently as her dad opens the front door and her fur siblings race to greet her.
As the other dogs jump and dance around dad’s feet in excitement, Emma can only sit and wait her turn. It’s heartwarming to see the happiness of all three dogs but there is something about Emma sitting there patiently that will especially tug at your heart.
About the sweet reunion, her mom, Melissa Proctor Swanson, said, “Emma and her papa had a really special relationship! It was a devastating loss for her that he left. She will often be waiting for me at the end to pick her up, which is at the entrance to the house. This time, however, when her father entered the room, she went straight to him!”
She also said, “My husband has been absent for the past half a year. We adopted a special needs dog with a severe birth defect just before he left. We are long-term foster parents for SNARR, which is an animal rescue organization for animals with special needs.”
Emma underwent surgery to remove her legs in order for her to get around more easily. We’re sure she’s thrilled about that. This little dog is full of spirit and will not be stopped by anyone.
We hope you enjoyed our sweet reunion video. You can share it with your friends as usual.
