What is so controversial with Netflix’s Blonde? Well…

Netflix was released Wednesday, September 28th. BlondeThis is a flashy, fictitious story about Marilyn Monroe’s life. Ana de Armas stars as the late star of the film, which runs nearly three hours.

This film, directed by Andrew Dominik and inspired by Joyce Carol Oates’s novel of the name, is the latest to capitalize on Monroe’s legacy. Fans and critics are scathing about Dominik’s hypersexualized and maximalist approach to Monroe’s story. BlondeThis biopic is being criticized for pretending to be a biopic, when in fact it’s a loose retelling of Monroe and her adventures. traumaThis book contains disturbing depictions of suicide, sexual violence, and abortion.

Criticisms of Blonde Dominik’s inability clearly to communicate his intentions for the film only makes matters worse Some of his remarks were quite sour. Interview with Screen DailyHe said, “It is a demanding movie. If the audience doesn’t like it that’s their problem. It is not running for public office. It’s an NC-17 movie that features Marilyn Monroe. “I want to see the NC-17 version Marilyn Monroe’s story.”

He continued to tell the story. The British Film InstituteChristina Newland said that Monroe was not interested in Monroe’s whole life story. Some details are left out of the film, such as Monroe’s support of Ella Fitzgerald and the creation her own production business. He said, “That stuff doesn’t really tell the story of the film.” “It’s about a person who is going to be killing themself.”

Dominik doesn’t stop obsessing over Monroe’s tragic death aged 36. The film’s death scene Was shot in the exact same room she died. Some viewers were critical of this for being exploitative.

Newland also shared a Twitter outtake of her interview, in which the director mentioned the young women in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes as “well-dressed sheres.” NPR’s Aisha Harp replied to Newland’s tweet. Writing“This explains every second that BLONDE takes.”

De Armas was on the film’s press tour and has been creating a story Monroe would approve of, despite it being about a fictionalized Monroe.

Venice Film Festival de Armas said Monroe’s former home was the setting for Monroe’s filming. Monroe said that she felt the star’s presence when filming there: “I felt strong sensations, there was something in my air. She seemed to be approving of what we were doing. It sounds strange, but it was very real. We felt it.” The story doesn’t stop there. Interview with AnOther Magazine,De Armas claims Monroe gave permission for the cast and crew of Monroe to leave a note at her grave. In an interview, the actor also revealed some of his thoughts to VarietyMonroe’s grave multiple times, she said so.
