Marjorie Taylor Greene filed for divorce after her 27-year-old husband claimed that their marriage was ‘irretrievably destroyed’

The husband Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga.A Georgia judge granted a divorce to a woman who filed Wednesday morning.

FOX 5 Atlanta obtained court documents that Perry Greene stated in court papers that his 27-year-old marriage to Rep. Greene was “irretrievably ended.” They were married in August 1995, and have three children together.

The filing of the Floyd County Superior CourtThe couple was previously separated and are still separated. 

It stated, “additional ground” can be added as required.

FOX 5 reported that the proceeding was sealed by a petition citing “confidential” and “sensitive information.” The petition argues the “the parties’ significant privacy interest in sealing the records outweighs the public’s minuscule interest in access to said records.”

The hearing date for this motion has not been scheduled.

Rep. Greene issued the following statement Wednesday night to Fox News Digital:

“Marriage is a wonderful thing and I’m a firm believer in it. A husband and wife create a family to care for and nurture. This is how society is built. Perry and me created our family and raised three amazing children together. He gave me the most prestigious job title I could ever get: Mom. I’ll always be grateful for how great of a dad he is to our children. This is a personal and private matter. I ask that the media respect my privacy.

The team of the congresswoman also released a statement for her estranged husband.

“Marjorie has been my best friend over the past 29 years, and she has been an amazing mother!” Our most important accomplishment is our family. While we may be on different paths, we will always keep our focus on our 3 amazing kids, their future endeavors, and our friendship.
