Razer, Qualcomm and Verizon collaborate on a 5G gaming tablet. Additionally, it offers both 5G and WiFi 6E connectivity courtesy of the company’s FastConnect 6900 system.
At the end of last year, Qualcomm and Razer released a Developer Kit that was designed as a showcase of the G3x’s capabilities. It featured a 6.65 inch OLED display at 120Hz, four speakers, and integrated controls. The Razer Edge 5G will closely resemble that prototype, if we were to guess. In the teaser it shared today, Razer showed off enough of the Edge 5G to reveal it will feature a design that’s a tad more refined than the last Razer device to bear Edge branding.
Verizon says that the Android handheld is capable of playing games both locally and streaming them from the cloud. The Razer Edge5G is in an interesting position between these two devices. And . The latter is a dedicated cloud gaming device, and it costs $350. It has limited capabilities so this is a high-priced option. Although it is more costly, the Steam Deck can run games such as Elden Ring, Stray Hades natively. And if you already own those titles on Steam, you don’t have to pay for them again. What the Steam Deck doesn’t have is 5G connectivity, and that’s something that could make the Razer Edge 5G an interesting option when it’s released. Razer and Qualcomm promised that they would share more information on their collaboration by October 15th. .
