Jets’ Zach Wilson medically cleared, expected to start against Steelers ‘if all goes well this week’

The New York JetsExpect to see their franchise quarterback in the center of their Week 4 matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Saleh declared Wednesday, “Zach will participate today in full,”

Salah replied, “If everything goes well this week,” when Salah was asked if Wilson would start against the Steelers.

New York’s veteran quarterback Joe Flacco was called in to replace Wilson. The Jets went 1-2 to begin the year.

“It’s really just exciting for him to get back on the football field,” Saleh said of getting Wilson back. “It’s been six weeks. And there’s a lot of things that have to go around in terms of making sure we run an efficient offense. From us as coaches, to o-line, to receivers running routes, everybody’s involved.

“So, it is exciting to get him back out there but at the same time, it’s not all about Zach. It’s making sure that we’re executing on all cylinders, as we should every week.”

The Jets’ offensive defense has been weak to begin the year. They allowed nine sacks the first three games.

George Fant, left tackle, was injured in the left knee and placed on the IR Tuesday. He will be out for at least four games. 

Pittsburgh is now at 1-2 in the season. They are also without T.J. Watt who tore his pectoral muscle during Week 1.
