Gareth Southgate has pledged never to compromise his values, as he prepares England to play their final warm-up matches before the World Cup.
England will face Italy in Milan Friday night. This is their first game since June’s disastrous defeat by Hungary twice, which included a humiliating 4-1 at Molineux. Facing the media for the first time since that evening, Southgate said that he had led a review process into that camp, and realised that he had “compromised certain decisions internally”. Southgate refused to reveal the details when pressed.
