She became the happiest and most happy dog she had ever seen, from being scared and sad to being content.
Heaven is the name for the dog in this tale, and she’s amazing. When she was first rescued by the Kentucky River animal shelter, she was scared. Heaven is now the prettiest Home Depot employee, and we are glad to tell her tale.
Jackie Rackers adopted Heaven and told the Dodo how the pair’s outings to Home Depot transformed a fearful puppy into a happy girl. “The Home Depot runs began as a means to help her deal with her fears,” Rakers explained to The Dodo. “She was scared of new places and sounds, so we’d go for five minutes and she’d get all the treats. Then we started going for longer and longer periods of time, exposing her to more and more things in the store.” Home Depot has a lot of intriguing things for dogs to discover, and Heaven clearly found these outings to be a terrific way for her to practice breaking out of her shell.
Heaven emerges at Home Depot from her shell. Heaven was so good at Home Depot visits that she bought her own apron. Rakers said, “I keep it in the car so we’re always ready.” “As soon as she realizes we’re entering the parking lot, she simply quivers until I put [the apron] on her and she’s off to ‘work.’” Rakers added, “She walks around like she owns the area.”
Home Depot makes Heaven a household name. Heaven’s travels to Home Depot have also proved popular with the store’s employees. Everybody knows her name and there is a prominent picture of her in the break area. Paradise is also represented in the store.
She makes it a point to meet new people while she’s there, and she always chooses those who need a pick-me-up to be the focus of her attention. Heaven enjoys making others happy. Heaven is able to find people who want to smile, laugh or warm their hearts. “She walks about doing her own business and then insists on meeting someone,” Rakers explained. “She simply sits there staring. They often mention how much they needed the pick me up. It’s as if she knows who needs to be told how much they are loved that day — and one of her favorite places to do so is Home Depot!”
Rakers said that Heaven could desire to make other people happy as she had been so depressed in the past. “She was terrified of everything, but with a lot of training and patience, she learned to trust, and now it’s as though she pays it forward,” Rakers explained. “She goes out of her way to find people who need her and gives them a smile and a cuddle.”
It is amazing to watch an animal transform from being terrified and dejected into happy and energetic. You are happy when they are satisfied because of your efforts. Jackie Rakers knows how it feels. Heaven, her dog, experienced this same feeling. “She is the epitome of what occurs when you meet someone right where they are and love them unconditionally,” Rakers added. “She transformed from being fearful and depressed to being the happiest dog.”
