Dogs are often apprehensive about receiving treats. This intelligent dog is a good friend.
A lovely black puppy named Negro has been living on the campus of Colombia’s Diversified Technical Education Institute of Monterrey Casanare for the past few years. He acts as a guardian, watching over the children while they study.
Negro is looked after by the school staff in exchange for food, water, attention and a safe place to stay the night.
It seems that the dog decided that he would do whatever he wanted.
Negro discovered the small shop on campus early in his tenure. It is a place where students gather to shop during breaks. Negro also bought cookies from the shop.
This is evidently where the dog became first aware of commerce and decided that he would engage in it.
Angela Garcia Bernal, Teacher, said to The Dodo he would take the Dodo to the store and watch the children trade money for goods. He then showed up one day holding a leaf between his jaws and waving his tail to ask for a biscuit.
Negro had made his own money but it was acknowledged.
He was also given insight and a cookie.
One leaf can buy sweets!
Since the dog discovered that money can actually grow on trees, it has been a regular occurrence.
According to veteran store employee Gladys Barreto, “He comes for cookies every day.” He makes this transaction every day, and he always pays with a leaf.
Here is a video that Negro does at work.
This is even more remarkable because the dog has been doing it for many years. To prevent inflation, the staff limits his purchases to a maximum of two per day. They also make sure that he receives only dog-safe snacks.
However, it’s still impressive to see.
Bernal observed that you almost want to weep when you first see it. “He’s highly brilliant, and he’s discovered a way to make himself understood.”
