Premier League match fans who use smoke bombs, pyrotechnics, or intrude on the pitch will be banned for at most one year. All 20 clubs voted unanimously for new measures

Fans who use smoke bombs, fireworks or intrude on the pitch at Premier League matches are subject to a ban of at least one year from their club.

The measures were agreed upon by all 20 Premier League clubs as part of a crackdown against anti-social and criminal behavior inside stadiums.

These new measures were introduced in response to an increase in anti-social behavior on grounds throughout the country at the end of last year.

The new policy goes into effect immediately. It applies to home and away matches, as well to potential parents and legal guardians of children who participate in such activities.

“At a Premier League Shareholders’ Meeting today, clubs unanimously agreed to introduce minimum-length bans for supporters who take part in anti-social and criminal behaviours at league stadiums,” a statement read.

“Fans caught carrying or activating pyrotechnics or smoke bombs, or entering the pitch without permission, will receive an automatic club ban with a minimum term of one year.

“These bans could also be extended to accompanying parents or guardians of children who take part in such activities.

“This policy is effective immediately and the ban is applicable to both home and away matches.”

There have been increasing incidents of supporters sprinting onto the pitch, raising concerns about the safety and well-being of footballers.
